For the first time in a long time, St. Peter's will be hosting a service for The Great Vigil of Easter on Holy Saturday (April 4), and we would love to celebrate Holy Baptism as part of that wonderful celebration.

The Easter Vigil can be celebrated after sunset on Holy Saturday, and ours will begin at 9 PM. Baptism at the Easter Vigil is an ancient tradition of the Church, celebrating new life in Christ. It directly links the candidate’s resurrection from sin to Jesus’ resurrection, symbolizing a passage from darkness to light and death to life. The Vigil is considered by some to be the most fitting moment for initiation into the Church, as the entire community renews their own baptismal promises at the same time.

In light of that, people considering baptism this spring (for themselves or their children) are encouraged to consider the Great Vigil for this blessed milestone. Talk to Rev. Rob or Rev. Bonnie for more information.
