THIS WEEK AT ST. PETER’S - JULY 5-12

BELATED and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to ALL JULY BIRTHDAYS!

Sunday:

10:00 am       BAS Stream on Facebook

Thank you to all the people who volunteer their time and talents to put together the weekly video and audio of St. Peter’s services. It is appreciated by all parishioners and keeps us connected as a Parish.

Office Hours: The office is now open from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, Monday - Friday.

CARING MINISTRIES
Prayer Group: Please keep Douglas Hay, Daryl Leinweber, Gordon, Aileen Bucknor, Dorothy Weston, Joan & Bob Byers, Shelagh Innes, Dorothy Summers, Fran McWilliams and John Dawson in your prayers.

Pastoral Care: Please contact Lois Ellis at 403-252-9503 or loisellis[at]shaw[dot]ca for more information.

Rev. Jagdutt has provided his Blessings for some of the Parishioners initiatives. If you are running any programs, while we are self-isolating, please tell Rev. Jagdutt or one of the Wardens. We would like to announce them to others.

NOTICES
Church Gardens: A special thank you to Ann Bright for making our gardens attractive and sweeping the sidewalks and driveways.

Courtyard Clean-up: We are looking for volunteers to come and help weed and clean the courtyard. To follow social distancing guidelines,  please phone the office ahead of time to arrange a time of your choosing. Linda or Meredith will let you in during office hours (10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

From the Organ Bench: Music ministry continues in this time of COVID-19, and I wanted to share a little bit of what I’ve been up to.
I’m working with a couple of organists from Newfoundland to Calgary to put together a ‘library’ of hymns similar to the ones that I’ve been putting together for the Sunday services. We’re hoping that between all of us, we’ll have a significant collection of hymns for all seasons such that the online outreach can continue even after we’re back meeting in person. Our collective choir will include voices from Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, and Alberta - and possibly a few other provinces as the project gains traction! Please keep us musicians in your prayers as we work together to keep music in the hearts of parishioners across the country! - Sam

An addendum was issued which can be found by clicking HERE.

Donations: Parish members may either mail in their donation to the Church (903 75 Ave SW, Calgary, AB, T2V 0S7), or they may bring it in and slide it under the Office door. The other alternative is for people to go to their bank and set up a direct deposit- please email Meredith for a form to complete. If you have concerns about mailing your offerings, Arnold Williams has offered to pick up your envelopes. If you would like this service, please contact Arnold at 403-251 – 4610 or arnoldegbertwilliams[at]gmail[dot]com.Thank you Arnold for your weekly trips to assist Mike with the banking.

Updates
Warden's Update: Although the Church is officially closed, there are many on-going activities.
The wardens continue to meet weekly and Mike reports that we are paying the bills. They are managing the church as the Parish Council does not meet in July or August unless there is a retreat planned.
The office is now staffed from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Please leave your message for Meredith or Linda.
All the church contracts are being reviewed for staff, rentals, and waste and recycling removal. It was discovered that Ron was working without a contract since June 2019. He is now terminated.
There is a new face on the Executive Council. Garth Dymond has agreed to be the Rector’s Warden. Lois Ellis remains as the Assistant Rector’s Warden and Ann Bright is the People’s Warden.

Church Closure: The Diocesan Office continues to monitor the situation with COVID -19 regarding the opening of the church. There are 2 priests and 3 medical doctors on the committee.

Lower Hall Cleaning: The lower hall, the hallway, and the two rooms have now been cleaned and polished. Although Barry O'Flynn rented the polisher, it was discovered that St. Peter's already has 2 polishers to use in the future. THANK YOU Barry for your work.

Cormack Hall: The Cormack Hall kitchen continues to be reviewed. One estimate was for $65,000 with no new appliances. The work continues with more estimates to be received.

Extras
Who has seen the brand new Canadian flag in the garden? It was replaced by Rev. Jagdutt in time for Canada Day.

Things we've learned during COVID-19: Get dressed every day. Go for a walk each day, even a short walk in the rain. Remember that "if thunder roars, go indoors".  Phone at least one friend each day. Use the church directory to phone a new friend each day. Take up a hobby. Learn a new language. Learn a new instrument. Redecorate a room by shopping at your house.

Did you know -  you can share a Church Service with others? Line up the link on your computer. Turn up the volume on your audio. Call them and ask them to put their phone on speaker. Place your phone close to the audio on your computer. Click on the link. The person can now listen comfortably to the service sitting with their phone on the table.

Rejoice always. Pray continually. Give thanks in all circumstances.... Thessalonians 5:16-18

“What is needed is a realization that power without love is reckless and abusive,
and that love without power is sentimental and anemic.
Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.”
- Martin Luther King Jr.
