From the Interim Priest-In-Charge:
When I hear comments from parish members such as:
“How long will he be around for.” - On the concerns mentioned in Setting Sail regarding the question of how long will the interim priest be at St. Peter’s.  I have been licensed by the Bishop to be the interim priest in charge for a term to expire upon the appointment and licensing of a new Incumbent.
“I suppose the Parish Council has been fired.” - On the question of whether or not the Parish Council has been fired or their services terminated.  No, the Parish Council has not been fired nor have their responsibilities changed. The Parish Council is on its annual Summer break, where they are not required to attend any Parish Council meetings,  for the months of July and August and will resume with its first meeting September 8, 2020.  During the months of July and August the Parish Executive has been meeting on a weekly basis.

This reminds me to say a prayer that I had heard in a Uniting Church in Australia at a time when I was visiting my ailing parents:
“I am weary Lord. It’s not serving you that saps my energy. It’s the people you’ve given me to work with. They’re difficult. It’s not having a vision of your mission that’s hard, Lord. It’s the petty personality conflicts. Where is the vision that is big, at least bigger then our egos, bigger then the kingdoms we are busy building?
It is here, Lord, in your body, that we do the best job of wounding one another.
We find it hard, Lord, to name that here, in your church, we are the ones who impede your kingdom.” Amen.

UPDATES
Fall Fair: As the annual Fall Fair will not be possible in its usual form this year, Sheila will take orders for items from the Country Store, and curbside pick up or drop off can be arranged. Jams and jellies are available all year as Sheila freezes the fruit when it becomes available, but there are some time-sensitive items such as Peaches, Brandied Peaches, Dilly Carrots, Pickled Beets, and Dill Pickles which will be prepared in the next few weeks. Knowing the approximate numbers of each would be most helpful. Please contact Sheila Leigh at 403 281 1376 or sjleigh[at]shaw[dot]ca

Courtyard Clean-up: We are looking for volunteers to come and help weed and clean the courtyard. Thank you to those who have come to assist. To follow social distancing guidelines,  please phone the office ahead of time to arrange a time of your choosing. Linda or Meredith will let you in during office hours (10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Warden's Update: Please click HERE to read the memo sent out to the parish on August 26 regarding the current events the Executive Council has been working on over the summer.

Cormack Hall: The ACW (Mary Dymond, Mary – Anne Armstrong, Ann Bright) is closer to a decision for the renovations to the Cormack Hall Kitchen.

Firewood: Peter Leigh and a group of the men have kept busy chopping, splitting and stacking wood. Now is the time to buy for your fire-pit or your fireplace. Stack it high, and let it dry! If you need a full pick-up load for $100.00 delivered, contact Peter at 403-281 – 1376 or pjleigh[at]shaw[dot]ca.

Something to Think About

Things we've learned during COVID-19:
Get dressed every day. Go for a walk each day, even a short walk in the rain. Remember that "if thunder roars, go indoors."  Have you contacted a new friend from within the Parish? Or someone you have met on your daily walk? Take up a hobby. Learn a new language. Learn a new instrument. Redecorate a room by shopping at your house. Have you shredded that box of old documents yet? Have you shopped your cupboard following your Covid eating? Maybe it is time for a change – over for Fall.

Thought of the Day: Do things for people, not because of who they are or what they do in return, But because of who you are.  Harold S. Kushner
