Filming “Under the Banner of Heaven” at St Peter’s: Matt Palmer, Location Manager, lived close to our Church as a kid and said he always loved the Church building and its setting. Now he is grown up, married and living in Cougar Ridge. The production team have selected St Peter’s Anglican Church as location to film a small part of Jon Krakauer’s “Under The Banner of Heaven,” (this is about how two brothers were told by God to murder a young mother and her baby - 1980’s setting).
The location crew moved on August 11 to return the church back to the ’80s. They will also be transforming Cormack Hall into a beauty pageant venue. It was filmed on August 17. This involved blocking off roads and the parking lot and moving in a bunch of trailers. Once the filming is complete, they will take a couple of days to restore things. St Peter’s will be back to normal well before the planned opening service on August 22 nd . An agreement was sent to us. Our Legal Team has gone through it and is happy with the contract. So if you see big goings-on in a couple of weeks, it's temporary but pretty exciting.
