A Prayer on Racism:
O God, who has given his only begotten Son and called us into fellowship with him, draw us closer into unity with peoples of all colour and all races within our communities, cities, country and every land. Let us acknowledge the sin of racism as we help and understand each other, as we grasp the meaning of what you have called us to be. We have wounded and are wounding the body of Christ as we have wounded those persons whom you have created and called to share in your grace. Forgive us our sin and lead us into new life through the one who was broken for us on the cross at Calvary. Amen.

NOTICES
From the Synod Office:
We have received some questions regarding the reopening of churches since the Alberta Government has published its Stage 1 reentry plans.

Some have assumed that if the government has allowed churches to begin opening, that they (individual parishes) are free to do so.
That is not the case. Churches in the Anglican Diocese of Calgary will not be opening in June as per Archbishop Greg's last letter.

The COVID Task Force on Protocols and timing of reentry team chaired by our Dean the Very Rev. Leighton Lee and a group of very capable medical experts - are in the very early stages of planning how we might reenter safely. They will diligently consider all of the aspects necessary and provide us with a guide that will allow us all to return to our beloved places of worship.

In the meantime, please continue to build community, study, pray, worship and provide pastoral care as many of you are doing in new and creative ways. (Who knew the "phone tree" would return!)

Sincerely,
Pilar

Changes in Parish Office Holders: Mr. Martin Cull is no longer the People's Warden. Mrs. Angela Bane is no longer on the Parish Council.
The new Rector's Warden is Mr. Garth Dymond. Mrs. Lois Ellis continues to be Assistant Rector's Warden. Mrs. Ann Bright is now the People's Warden.
Mrs. Linda Gemmell has joined the office staff, she will be in Wednesdays & Thursdays.

Anglican Diocese of Calgary Weekly Newsletter: Can be found by clicking HERE.

Scams: Please be wary of scam emails and phone calls going around under Rev. Singh's name. The only email Jagdutt uses is singhjamp[at]shaw[dot]ca.

Donations: Parish members may either mail in their donation to the Church (903 75 Ave SW, Calgary, AB, T2V 0S7), or they may bring it in and slide it under the Office door. The other alternative is for people to go to their bank and set up a direct deposit- please email Meredith for a form to complete. If you have concerns about mailing your offerings, Arnold Williams has offered to pick up your envelopes. If you would like this service, please contact Arnold at 403-251 – 4610 or arnoldegbertwilliams[at]gmail[dot]com. Thank you Arnold for your weekly trips to assist Mike with the banking.

Updates
Church Activities: Although the Church is officially closed, there are many on-going activities.
The Wardens (Executive Council) are meeting weekly. Mike Bright reports that the present bills are paid.
The Men’s Group has cleaned the Lower Hall, the hallway and the two (2) rooms in that wing. Thank you to Barry O’Flynn and the Men's Group.
The Lower commercial kitchen has been professionally cleaned to ensure it meets Alberta Health Regulations at an approximate cost of $1700.
The ACW is accepting quotes and meeting with designers to develop the plans to renovate the Cormack Hall kitchen. Following the completion of that work, the floor will be cleaned, stripped and refinished by professionals.
Peter continues with all of the everyday tasks. An electrician will be at the Church next week to install motion sensors, a security system in the Narthex and to review the need to upgrade some of our lighting to more energy efficient standards.
When you drive by, take note of the new Canadian Flag.
We are working towards a pristine Church when we are able to re-open.

Firewood: The men have kept busy chopping trees and splitting wood. If you could use firewood for your fireplace or backyard fire-pit, please contact Peter Leigh at 403-281-1376 or pjleigh[at]shaw[dot]ca

Extras
Did you know -  you can share a Church Service with others? Line up the link on your computer. Turn up the volume on your audio. Call them and ask them to put their phone on speaker. Place your phone close to the audio on your computer. Click on the link. The person can now listen comfortably to the service sitting with their phone on the table.

Do you need some humour during the day? Joy 4 All. Telephone 1 – 877 – 569 – 4255.  Some Calgary students have developed a phone line with Jokes, Stories, Poems, a daily dose of Kindness and Listen and Learn. Their hope is to bring laughter into each day.

Lessons learned because of COVID – 19: Get dressed every day. Go outdoors each day. Phone a friend or neighbour. Say a prayer for the front-line workers, the postal workers, the bus drivers, the news providers, the garbage persons, the street sweepers, all the families doing homeschooling, the transport drivers who bring us our food, the grocery store staff and all the volunteers who are doing grocery, drug store and food deliveries. Pray for those who are homeless.
